The Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas Overview and Amenities

Located at 3900 S Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89119, the Luxor Hotel & Casino is a large hotel and casino complex on the famous Las Vegas Strip in Nevada, USA. Owned by MGM Resorts International, it has been operating since October 15, 1993, initially designed by architect David Rockwell and interior designers Jeffrey Beers and Joel Hyatt.

History

When opened in 1993, Luxor luxorcasino.ca was one of the largest hotel complexes in Las Vegas with over 2,500 rooms. Initially themed after ancient Egypt, its design incorporated Egyptian architectural elements and decorations throughout the property. The name «Luxor» is derived from a city located on the west bank of the Nile River in Egypt.

Over time, Luxor underwent significant renovations to update its facilities and amenities. In 1996, the hotel expanded with new wings adding more rooms and features. The casino was revamped in 2018 under MGM’s rebranding efforts.

Architecture

Luxor’s design is centered around an imposing pyramid-shaped structure housing over 120,000 square feet of gaming space on two levels above ground and one underground level. A second tower offers additional accommodations within walking distance to the main building via a pedestrian bridge or monorail connection.

Inside, guests are transported through themed areas named after different Egyptian regions: Luxor’s reception area is designed in a New York City-style setting from ancient Egypt. The hotel contains over 4 million cubic feet of air-conditioned space and covers more than four city blocks at ground level.

Amenities

This massive resort offers extensive facilities catering to various guest interests:

1. Casino: Luxor features 120,000 square feet of gaming action with slots and video poker, as well as numerous tables for baccarat, blackjack, craps, roulette, three-card poker, four-card poker, Mississippi stud poker, Caribbean stud poker, pai gow poker, keno, bingo and the popular Megabucks progressive jackpot machine.

2. Accommodations: Over 4,400 rooms are divided among two towers. Each offers en-suite bathrooms with separate walk-in showers and tubs in most suites or upgraded guest accommodations (over half of Luxor’s total room count). In-room entertainment includes pay-per-view movie service.
